I know some of their dogma is questionable, but every Mormon I have ever encountered was so nice and pure in intent. These folks represent their church well. Even the ex-communicants I have met are nice and of good spirit. I would never join a club that would have me for fear of being kicked out.

One explanation is people confusing Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons? Does that sound possible?

This is so incredibly interesting. I'm a Mormon, and I run a Substack newsletter called The Utah Monthly. In it we discuss Utah cultures, politics, ideas, environment, and religions--on the religion side we especially attempt to dive into Mormon culture (obviously there are many other religions in Utah but Mormons are everywhere here haha). If you would be interested in writing an article about your view of the Mormon Church or Mormons from your unique perspective, I think that would be very fascinating. If you're interested you can email me at utahmonthly@gmail.com

Excited for this! Got here through Austen Allred’s Twitter, really curious to see what you’ll turn your “outsiders” lens on.

I don't know nearly as much as you do, but I'm enchanted. It's the commercials. They're so sincere.

I know 2 ex-Mormons and one converted from Metaphysics to Mormonism (is that what you say?). My close ex-Mormon friend rails against them. She went the other way Mormon to Metaphysics.

Wow this is so cool… I have read posts from your other blog and had no idea you had this affinity for the LDS. Is the name Default Friend at all derived from the church magazine?
